Timothy D. Bernard, Sr.  78

Tim passed away Friday, September 9th, 2022 in Newark. He was born March 22, 1944 in Corning, a son of the late Jay and Barbara "Babs" Lacey Bernard.

He was a retired employee of Peabody Coal Company, a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, and a Lifetime member of the Corning Eagles #463, where he was a trustee for many years.

Tim is survived by his children, Corrine Swackhamer and Timothy D. Bernard, Jr., both of Corning;  brother Mike Bernard and sisters Barbara Bragg and Judy Stimmel; grandchildren Heath, Blake and Cody Swackhamer, David, Daniel, and Ashley Bernard, Tayva Bernard and Erett Tillman; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his godchildren Michael J. Bernard Jr. and Lacey Ross.

He was welcomed home by his beloved wife Bonnie, daughter Sarah Bernard Tillman, brother Terry Bernard, and a sister Mary Ann Hill. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 17, 2022 at St. Bernard Parish, 425 Adams Street, Corning, with calling from 11:00 am until time of service at the church, and Eagles services at 12:45 pm. Father Todd Lehigh as Celebrant.  Burial will follow at Oakwood Millertown Cemetery.

A reception will follow the burial at the parish hall, and all food may be taken to the hall.
