Robert “Bob” Anthony Gable, aged 95 of New Lexington, Ohio passed away at the Morrison House on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Born June 18, 1930, in New Lexington, Ohio he was the son of the late Francis Joseph and Coletta (Noll) Gable. He graduated from St. Charles Preparatory School in 1948.
Bob was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a radio repairman. Following his services, he returned to new Lexington where he worked as a painter, than at Lemco and finally working for Bryant as a plant engineer until his retirement in 1992. A lifelong Catholic, Bob was member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1065, New Lexington American Legion, served o the Honor Guard and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he spent many years on the Parish Council.
Bob loved to tinker and fix things, but his number one love was his wife, Adelaide (Nash) Gable, who he married on June 19,1954. The two built their life together for 71 years, raising 5 boys and helping with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife Adelaide; sons Jim (Angie) Gable of Zanesville, Gene (Beth) Gable of New Lexington, John (Jenny) Gable of Wisconsin, and Gerry (Theresa) Gable of New Lexington. Grandchildren, Joe (Gwyn) Gable, Kyle (Keri) Gable, Trisha (Joel) Richards, Jamie (Liz) Gable, Floyd (April) Gable, Sarah (Tom) Hamilton, Edgar Gable, and Alyson (Tyler) Hay as well as 21 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son Patrick Gable and grandsons Michael and Steven Gable. Brothers Richard Gable and Donald Gable.
Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated by Father Emmanuel Adu Addai will take place at St. Rose Catholic Church in New Lexington at 11 am on Saturday August 30, 2025 with burial taking place at New Lexington Cemetery with Military graveside rite. Visitation will take place on Friday August 29, 2025 from 4-7 pm at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home. with Legion service at 7 pm and Rosary to follow. In lieu of flowers, the Gable family suggests donations made in Bob’s memory to St. Rose Church, 309 N Main St. New Lexington, Ohio 43764
