Richard Dale "Dick" Shaner 88
Passed away on June 5th, 2026 at his residence. Born May 10th, 1938 in New Lexington he was the son of the late Augustus (Gus) and Blanche (Kinney) Shaner the 9th of 11 siblings. He graduated from McLuney High School in 1956 and retired from Grote Corporation in 1998. He loved Scroll-sawing, camping and growing tomatoes in his garden, but most of all he loved his Sweet Lucy whom he married February 23, 1957. An avid storyteller, Dick loved spending time with his family and working in his woodshop. He spent many years traveling the United States as a lifetime member of the StarCraft Club.
Dick is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucille Shaner, his three daughters, Patricia (Lawrence) Winterbotham, Pamela Hoover and Penny Hoover. Two grandchildren Jennifer (Lloyd) Walters and Matthew (Misty) Winterbotham, 6 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson as well as 2 sisters, 1 brother and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his 7 siblings and a granddaughter, Amy Hoover.
Friends and family may call from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at the CHUTE-WILEY FUNERAL HOME, 118 S Jackson Street, New Lexington and from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 10th 2026 at the funeral home.
