Phillip D. Hillis 73
Passed away peacefully at his home with his family at his side. Phil was born March 16, 1948 in Zanesville to the late Clinton and Dorothy Francis Centola Hillis.
Phil was Catholic by faith, United States Army Veteran having served in the Viet Nam War. Worked for many years at Peabody Coal, the Heath Industrial Park and retired from Star Engineering of New Lexington. He was a member of the AmVets, American Legion and New Lexington Elk's 509 where he served as an officer and a Trustee. One of Phil's favorite things to do was mowing grass and his fish pond.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Hillis, granddaughter, Kendra Lee Hillis, siblings, Richard "Dick" Hillis (Charlene Dietrich), Jeff L. (Cindy) Hillis, Carol (Brent) Grubb, Mark (Amy) Hillis and Debbie (Mark) Johnson. Special caregivers, Andrea and Becky and special thanks to Alberta Lyons.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Thompson Hillis (December 1, 2013).
Family and friends may call on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home 118 S Jackson St., New Lexington with Elks services at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in New Lexington Cemetery with Military Gravesides conducted by Junction City American Legion Post #376. Memorial contributions may be made to FairHope Hospice, Perry County Cancer Alliance and the Medical Equipment Loan Company of Thornville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
