Nancy Hasson Obituary

Nancy was born on November 13, 1924 at her home on Sunnyside (the Italian neighborhood of New Lexington, Ohio) and peacefully passed away on September 9, 2013,

At seventeen, she left New Lexington, got a ride to Columbus on Epifano's coal truck and never looked back.

She then obtained her cosmetology license and began her lifelong passion for her beauty salon businesses.

Nancy soon met Howard Hasson and they were married in 1947. Howard became a beloved member of the Marcket family. He passed away in 1965. There being only one love in her life, Nancy never remarried.

Nancy enjoyed a forty-two year career of managing
beauty salons at the Deshler Hotel and the Neil House Hotel at Broad and High in downtown Columbus.

She loved her garden, proudly raising dozens of varieties of daylilies, hostas and roses, which she shared with everyone. To this day, her gifts of flowers and plants grace the gardens of hundreds of friends throughout Central Ohio and beyond.

Nancy was preceded by her parents who were Italian immigrants, Virginia (Greco) Marcket from Cerisano, Calabria, her father, James Vincent Marcket from Galati, Sicily and her brother, Anthony "Tony" Marcket.

Nancy is survived by sisters, Eleanor Reichley and Theresa Beck, sister in law, Dorothy Marcket and nieces and nephews, Nancy (Jimbo) Russell, Jamie (Joe) Fisher, Ginny (Bobby, dec.) Grilli, Mike Reichley, Tony Reichley, M.D., Amy (Cliff) Cody, Tina DeCesare, Jim (Kathy) Marcket and her very special nephew, John Reichley, who made her laugh and took care of her like a son. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great nephews.

Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. ~ 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with Rosary services at 1:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Rose Catholic Church, 309 N, Main St., New Lexington with Father John Reade as Celebrant. Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose School.
