Mitzi Y. (Thompson) Goodfellow

Our family has lost their matriarch with the death of our Mother, Mitzi Y. Goodfellow, at the age of 85. Mitzi, passed away peacefully at SKLD New Lexington Nursing Home early Tuesday, May 11, 2021 with family by her side.   She was born July 25, 1935 in New Lexington to the late Robert and Ada Thompson.   
She was feisty, outspoken, courageous, and very devoted to her children and grandchildren.  Mitzi never missed a ball game, music concert, 4-H event, banquet, or anything else her grandchildren were involved in.  She was proud of them all and in return they were so very blessed to have her and will miss her deeply.
Mitzi was world-renowned for not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. Her extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime.
Mitzi worked at New Lexington City School District in the Treasurer’s office for 36 years.  She missed less work throughout her whole career than some do in just a year.  She was a dedicated employee, but retired in the 90’s saying, “I’m not learning how to use those damn computers”.
Survived by her daughters, Sharon Foucht, Susan (Randy) Lacey, and Debbie Wood; her grandchildren, Nathan (Kacy) Hammer, Zach Wolfe, Tyler Wolfe, Jordan (Cassandra) Spohn, Danielle (Josh) Bordner, Lindsey (Jason) Coopersmith, Morgan (Mitch) Howell, Staci Wood, and Nicole Wood; as well as 13 great grandchildren; her brother Larry (Betty) Thompson; in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews - All of whom she loved deeply and fiercely. 
Mitzi was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Goodfellow and parents, Robert and Ada (James) Thompson.
The family would like to thank the staff at SKLD New Lexington for the care given to Mitzi and comfort given to the family, also the nurses and aides from FairHope Hospice.
Family and friends may call on Friday, May 14, 2021 from 1pm-3pm, with the service following at 3pm at Chute-Wiley Funeral Home, 118 S. Jackson Street, New Lexington. Burial will follow at the New Lexington Cemetery.
