Mary Catherine Savage, 96, passed away Sunday afternoon at her residence in New Lexington. She was born on June 26th, 1925, one of three children to the late Zaddock and Mildred (Ratliff) Cronin.
Mary held many jobs throughout her lifetime. She ran a boarding house in Arizona during World War II to be closer to husband, Lester, whom she married in 1944, worked for Walter 5 & Dime, Bryant's, Lempco, McCoy Pottery, was a cook at the County Seat restaurant and volunteer foster grandmother for New Lexington Elementary..
She loved to go to Bingo, family events and her son's various bands. Mary's family will greatly miss her home cooked meals and he stubborn ways.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Ed (Mimi) Savage of Crooksville, Marty (Linda) Savage of Thornville, Mary Ann Euman and Lonnie (Rhonda) Savage of New Lexington,15 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great-great Grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, welcoming Mary into eternal life are her husband, Lester E. Savage who passed away September 9th, 1979, and one daughter, Sally Ann Johnson who passed away in 2020.
Friends are invited to visit from 4:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 9th and 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, March 10th,2022 at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home, 118 S. Jackson St., New Lexington, Ohio 43764. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Gilkerson officiating.
Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery.
