Mary Frances (Boyden) Saegert

Mary Frances Saegert (Boyden), age 76 of New Lexington, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home on March 14, 2025.

Mary was born October 23, 1948 to the late Raymond Sr. and Harriett Deibel Boyden in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Saint Aloysius Academy in 1967. After graduation Mary received a full scholarship to attend Nationwide Beauty Academy to become a cosmetologist.

Mary was very strong in her Catholic faith. She was full of joy, happiness, and love. She was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, godmother, grandmother, caregiver, friend, and neighbor. The number of hugs shared, meals served, cookies baked, children cared for, prayers said, and children spoiled are beyond counting.

Mary spent her entire career as a beautician. She started her own business, Elegante and then went on to join Christina Cochran at Sheer Perfection in 1990. Mary built a strong clientele base where they followed her from salon to salon for hair styling and “therapy sessions.”

She married the love of her life Richard “Dick” Saegert October 26th, 1968.  They had five children: Jeff Saegert, Michele Saegert (Cindy Paulson), Anita (Keith) Proctor, Josh Saegert (Sheila Young), and Becky Saegert; ten grandchildren: Jeffrey Morris, Ryan Saegert (Elizabeth Garey), Maddison Mattey (Conner Swartz), Kaylee (Jacob) Bowers, Allie Mattey, Dalton Proctor, Malakai Clarke, Olivia Proctor, Sierra Nelson and Eli Pingle; and nine great-grandchildren: Bella, Sophia, Ava, Benjamin, Boone, Knox, Harrison, Violet and Braxton.

Mary is survived by her brothers and sisters: Daniel (Sharon) Boyden, David Boyden, Anne (Francis) Brown, Patricia Thorne, Catherine Dickson, Stephen Boyden, and Thomas Boyden.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond F. and Harriet (Deibel) Boyden, in-laws John and Flora Mullins, siblings Raymond Boyden Jr., Paul Boyden, Michael Boyden, John Boyden, Scholastica Boyden, Julie Stough and Elizabeth Boyden, sisters-in-law Pirom Boyden, Melly Boyden and Ellen Hiles, brothers-in-law Dean Dickson, sister-law Sheree Boyden, Robert Stough, Ransom Hall and niece Robin Byrne.

Friends and family may pay their respects on Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 2pm - 8pm at St. Rose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11am at St. Rose Catholic Church with burial taking place at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Junction City, Ohio.

The reception will take place at Saint Rose PCC 120 North High Street, New Lexington Ohio.
