Leo F. Pompey (Uncle Leo)
Passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, October 30, 2011 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Corning, November 25, 1920 to the late Mike and Anna Standish Pompey.
He was a World War II Army Veteran. He lived and worked in Rocky River for most of his life. Leo was a lifetime member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Rocky River and St. Bernard's Catholic in Corning, Corning American Legion Post 327 and Corning Eagles 463.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Marie (Goecker), three sisters, Mary Martha (Jim) House, Patty (Jim) Satiroff and Margaret Ellen (Frank) House, one brother, Bill (Janette), 3 nephews and 2 nieces.
Leo will be missed by brothers, Francis (Rita) Pompey and Mike (Nonie) Pompey all of Corning, and Vince (Diane) of Lancaster. As well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and his dog, Kyden.
Leo loved spending time with his family, gardening, playing euchre and watching the Buckeyes.
A special thanks to Genesis Hospice (Patty and Kim) and Dr. Bradley Wilson for their wonderful care. We will all miss Uncle Leo's humor and generosity.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 31, from 3-7 p.m. at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home, 118 S Jackson St., New Lexington where Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Corning with Father Victor Wesolowski as Celebrant.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Millertown Cemetery with full military graveside rites.
