Joyce Valentine
Joyce Sines (Fink) Valentine of New Lexington, formerly of Athens, Ohio, passed January 26, 2024, peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born April 02,1945 to Dora E. (Hynus) Sines of New Lexington and John L. Sines of Corning. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Harry “Cliff” Valentine III, her son John Wesley Fink, sibling John Sines, Leroy Sines, Virginia Ansel, Leona Fosco, Margaret “Peggy” Young, and twins Robert “Bobalu” Sines and Roberta Wolfe.
She is survived by her children, Lisa and Brandon Fink of New Lexington and Stacey L. Valentine of Athens. And also by the stars of her show, her grandbabies John “Matt” (Miranda) Fink, Joey (Krystal) Fink, Bexley Fink, Clay M. and Amanda J.K. Tracey, Jason “Jake” (Riley) McCollister, Bradley. McCollister, Tiana Harness, Brittney McConaha, Zachary W. Fink, and Ean W. Fink. Not to be left out, her great grands, Ahlijah, Ahlissah, Jet, Aylen, Eilley, Jocee, Jurnee, Rosalee, Maggie and Joey.
Joyce was a 1963 graduate of St. Aloysius Academy. A woman of deep faith, she was a past member of St Rose Church and First United Methodist Church in New Lexington. She met and married Wesley Fink and for 25 years they raised their children, living lives of service and volunteering in their community.
In 1988 she met the love of her life Harry “Cliff” Valentine III. Together they owned and operated Pleasant Meats of Athens for nearly 20 years. They were members of the Ohio Meat Producers, supporters of Athens and Meigs County Fairs, and Alexander and New Lexington School Athletics.
Joyce was a caring person, always offering sound advice and sage wisdom. She often said that she was “blessed beyond measure” by her family and friends. Her love of the Buckeyes was immeasurable.
Her children would like to express their deep gratitude to her sister-in-law Lynn (Valentine) Patterson for her devoted care and respect shown to both Joyce and Cliff, also her favorite niece, Theresa Robinson, Lifelong friend Pam Sidwell.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday January 30, 2024 from 4-6 pm at the Chute Wiley Funeral Home 118 S. Jackson St, New Lexington, Ohio 43764. Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 31, 2024 at 11am at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Cline officiating. Burial will follow in New Lexington Cemetery. The family request Ohio State apparel for funeral and visitation.
