Joseph F. Gerlica

Passed away Thursday evening, August 28, 2014 at Autumn Health Care Center in Somerset.

He was born September 14, 1918 in Corning, the son of the late John and Mary Standish Gerlica.

Joseph was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Corning. A World War II Navy Veteran, member of the Corning Eagles #463, Corning American Legion Post #327 and a retired Railroader.

He is survived by his sisters; Ann Gerlica Pierce, of Gainesville, Texas, Sister Rosemary Gerlica SCN of Columbus and Sister Dorothy Gerlica SCN of New Lexington. A sister in law, Marie Gerlica of Corning. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony, Thomas, John, Bernard, Francis and Paul Gerlica.

As per Joseph's request cremation will take place.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 425 Adams St., Corning, Ohio 43730 on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 11:00 am with Father John Reade as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Millertown Oakwood Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by Corning American Legion Post #327.

A luncheon will follow at the Parish hall.
