Jack was born September 15, 1925 in Portsmouth, Ohio the son of the late Thomas and Minnie Bell (Hart) Higgins.
He was a retired employee of Peabody Coal "Sunnyhill" Mine in New Lexington. Jack served in the Army during World War II as as Paratrooper and Technician 5th Grade Glider in the Infantry 82nd Airborne. He received 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Cluster Airborne Medal, Holland Citation, the Victory Medal, and The Purple Heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years,
Edna (King) Higgins,
daughter; Linda (Tom) Cromwell of Cincinnati,
his son; John Wesley (Teresa) Higgins of Henderson, KY.
Three grandsons; Tony Perkins, John Cromwell, and Joseph Cromwell and his granddaughter, Taylor A. Higgins.
Three great grandchildren; Heather Perkins, James Perkins and Anthony Perkins,
Sister; Corrine Higgins Hughes, niece; Alice (Brown)Gilliam and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Higgins, sister, Alice Higgins Brown and grandson, James "Wink" Perkins.
Callings hours will be held from Wednesday, May 14
from 10:00 am until 11:00 a.m. at the Gwen Mooney Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45223 with funeral services at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Bryan officiating.
Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Cemetery.
