Hazel (McDonald) Dearing
Hazel was born December 20, 1937 in Murray City to the late William (Bill) McDonald and Elvetta (Laura) Wade Grose. She passed peacefully on April 30, 2026 at Genesis-Morrison House, Zanesville.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was very spiritual and introduced all her children to Christ, planting the seed of love and faith to live on forever in their hearts. She attended the Catholic Church at a very young age and taught catechism for over 20 years. She moved on to the Methodist Church wheere she spent several years and loved being part of the Angel Choir.
She attended other denominations, wherever the Spirit led her, she went. She was a homemaker, best cook, baker,seamstress, wallpapered, upholstered, carpenter and Best Mom ever.
She was a cook at the New Lexington Middle School for 20 plus years. She enjoyed working in the kitchen but best of all was the friendships she gained, fun and laughter, it gave her so much joy.
She loved baseball, watching the Big Red Machine and horseracing, never having missed the Kentucky Derby. She was a birder--loved her birds along with her sister Betty Jane. Most of all she loved her Lord Jesus Christ and her family. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Hazel is survived by her children: Kathy (Robin) Pickenpaugh, Cindy (Richard) Craig, Wayne (Jackie) Dearing, Rick (Valerie) Dearing, and Jane (John) CInquepalmi. Grandchildren: Leon, Shaun, Chrissy, Loren, Chassidy, Hannah, Zach, Kyle, Andrea and Kasey. 13 Great Grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by he husband, Arthur Wayne Dearing (December 18, 2017) siblings, Betty Jane Marston and William "Billy" McDonald.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 am-1:00 pm Monday, May May 4, 2026 with services at 1:00 pm at the High Street Community Church, 126 S. High Street, New Lexington with Reverend Daniel Greer officiating. Burial will follow In South Fork Cemetery New Lexington. Chute-Wiley Funeral Home is assisting the family. www.chutewiley.com
