Gertrude Carney Obituary

Slipped away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Somerset, daughter of the late Ally and Grace Mooter Saunders.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church an avid homemaker, she loved her flowers, especially her Rose Garden.

She loved her family above all else and set an example of a true virtuous wife and mother for others to follow. Her passion for love in and of family kept us all close throughout the years, amd instilled in us the values and love to hand down for generations to come.

She is survived by her sons; Donald (Lois) Carney
of New Lexington, Bud (Eileen) Carney of New Lexington and Ken (Sharon) Carney of Somerset.
Daughter, Karen (Ken) Cheney of New Lexington, Son in Law, Ron Harris of New Lexington, Brother, Tom Saunders of Zanesville and Sister in Law, Goldie Talbot Phillips of New Lexington.
19 Grandchildren, 77 Great Grandchildren, and 12 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by Husband of 67 years Fred Carney, daughter, Lee Ann Harris, infant daughter, Wanda Carney, 2 grandsons Stephen and Scott Carney, grandaughter, Trinda Carney, great grandchildren, Erin & Adam Carney.
Brother, Leo Saunders and Sisters, Rose Wolfe, Grace Wright & Janet Ann Saunders.

Calling hours will be held from 3-8 pm Sunday at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home, 118 S. Jackson St., New Lexington with Scripture Readings at 7:45 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 am at St. Rose Catholic Church, 309 N Main St., New Lexington with Father James Csaszar as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Somerset.
