Ethel was born in Chicora, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late William and Edna Hayes O'Brien.
Ethel was a 1939 graduate of Mercy Nursing School
where she became a Registered Nurse. After raising her 8 children she resumed her nursing career at the Herendeen Clinic and later at the Perry County County Health Department where she retired in 1989. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Juncton City.
She is survived by her children: Ellen of Montana, Gretta of Minnesota, Sheila of Florida, Caroleta of Bremen, Jeannette, Edgar and Amy of Junction City. 23 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband L. Edgar Metzger, daughter; Kathleen Gordon and 2 grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home, 118 S. Jackson Street, New Lexington with Rosary at 7:30 pm.
Mass of Christan Burial will be held at 11:00 am
Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Junction City with Father Victor Wesolowsky as Celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
