Emma Catherine Printz 84
Passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at The Pickering House, Lancaster.
She was born April 15, 1931 in Somerset, to the late Carl and Mary Reaver Carney.
She had 9 Siblings, Mary (Paul) Howden, Westerville, Richard (Jeannie) Carney, New Lexington, Dorothy (Jerald) Studer of Somerset, Rose (Thomas) Dahlgren, Dandridge, TN, Sue Carney, Blacklick and Rita (Don) Nace, Junction City. Three passed away, infant Nancy, Alice (Dave) Starling and Thelma Carney. Emma spent her early years attending Holy Trinity and public school in the community.

She was married February 28, 1949 to the late James Steen and had 6 boys and 2 girls, Pam Steen Tivner of Buckeye Lake, Victoria Steen Wolfe, Rehoboth, Michael Steen, New Lexington, Danny Steen (dec.), John Steen, Somerset, Mark (Mary) Steen, David (Wendy) Steen, and Thomas (Michelle) Steen all of New Lexington. Emma had much sorrow over the loss of her son Danny in February 21, 1974.

Along with raising a family she was active in social groups, church council, PTA, and her church St. Rose. In 1974 she married Charles Printz and welcomed two step-children, Linda Printz of Roseville and Charles Printz Jr. of Mt. Perry. They moved to Athens where she was on the City Council and work in several restaurants. In 1986 she returned to New Lexington and again was on City Council from 1994~1998.


She enjoyed family and was friends with all who knew her. She was truly an angel on earth, a well liked and productive citizen in all phases of her life. The community lost a friend, neighbor, and person of goodwill in all her life endeavors. Her strength in honoring God and Church passed on to 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren & 4 great great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home 118 S. Jackson St., New Lexington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday at St. Rose Catholic Church, Corner of Main & Water Sts., New Lexington. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Somerset, Ohio.
