Passed away peacefully on May 18th in the early morning hours at the Brookdale Care Facility in Winter Haven, Florida. She valiantly dealt with complications associated Alzheimer's.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Earl Horan; parents, Richard F. and
MaryCele Belford, Sr., and a sister, Mary Ellen Belford-O'Kane.
She is survived by her brothers, Richard, Jr., Jeffrey, Gregory and John.
Elizabeth attended St. Rose Elementary and St. Aloysius High School in New Lexington, Ohio. Thereafter she both attended and taught at numerous colleges across the United States, advancing her status to PHD. The list includes Ohio Northern, St. Mary of the Springs, Michigan, Ohio University, Memphis State, and taught at such educational centers at St. Dominic's School for Boys, Ohio University, Costal Carolina College, University of Arkansas, St. Andrews Presbyterian College and retired from Methodist University of Fayetteville, NC. While in North Carolina she also became the first woman president of the Fayetteville Chapter of the Rotary Club, along with memberships in numerous civic and educational organizations.
A private family memorial service and interment will be held at the Belford Family Plot at Maplewood-New Lexington Cemetery. St. Rose of Lima will offer the graveside eulogy and Chute-Wiley Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
