Douglas Harvey Obituary


Douglas Lee Harvey passed away on June 12th, 2026, at 1:14 p.m. of natural causes at Aftercare Lanfair of Lancaster Ohio. Douglas Lee Harvey was born at Latrobe, Logan County West Virginia on January 12th, 1950. He grew up in Logan County West Virginia with his parents Andrew David and Laura Jane (Gilbert) Harvey. Doug was the middle child in a family of five boys David Ray, Dennis Dean, Douglas Lee, Darrell Gene, and Johnny Jay.

Douglas married young at around 18 to Brenda Rogers of West Virginia. Doug’s first marriage was short-lived, and they divorced after a few years. Later in life after settling in Lancaster, Ohio, he met and married the mother of his children Linda Lou (Roller). He lost his long-time wife Linda to ALS disease. Doug and Linda had two children, Spencer Travis and Vanessa Jewel.

 A few years after his wife Linda passed Doug met and married a lady named Helen (Navin). Douglas and Helen married late in life and had no children other than the dogs they pretty much treated like children. During their marriage they lived in Circleville Ohio then a short stint in Las Vegas Nevada followed by a time in Walla Walla Washington and then moved back to Ohio and settled in Canal Winchester Doug lost his third wife about 2 years ago to Parkinson's disease. 

Douglas's was preceded in death by his second wife Linda and his third wife Helen. He also lost his mother Laura Jane and father Andrew David and  brother Darrell Gene and nephew  Jonathan Robert and all but one of the Gilbert aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his son Spencer Travis and daughter Vanessa Jewell Vanessa Jewel. as well as two grandchildren, Cole and Hunter. He is also survive by his eldest brother David and Dennis and youngest brother Johnny.  

Douglas in his personal life was an avid reader and hard-working individual who liked to provide for his family.

 

 Calling hours will be Tuesday June 16th, 2026, 5pm - 7pm at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home 118 S. Jackson St., New Lexington, Ohio
