Daniel E. Hammer, 66

               Daniel E. Hammer, 66, of New Lexington, OH passed away on July 26, 2023 peacefully at home with his family by his side.

               Danny was born on March 5, 1957 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, OH to Donnie and Arlene Hammer. After graduating from New Lexington High School in 1975, he went in to work in the coal mines and oil fields kickstarting a 40 year career where he eventually retired from ODOT as a field supervisor.

               Danny loved fishing, hunting, “wheelin’ and dealin’”, spending time with his grandkids, dogs, friends and family. He was a legendary storyteller and loved by all.

               Danny is survived by his mother, Arlene Hammer, his wife of 40 years Paula Hammer, his son Michael Cochran (Jennifer Reed), his daughter Misty Dornon (Nick Altier), son Philip (Michelle) McCoy III, sisters April (Dale) Thorpe, and Janie (Ronnie) Winegardner, grandsons Kadyn Dornon, Sage Dornon, Philip McCoy IV, Gavin Legrand, Avery Reed, two granddaughters Laken Galeucia and Claire Reed, many nieces and nephews, a special neighborhood grandson, Caleb Back, all of which he loved and adored.

               Danny was preceded in death by his Dad Donnie Hammer, his sister Vicky Narm, nephew Dale “DJ” Thorpe, and loving brother-in-law Bill Dressing.            

               “We are all stories in the end remembered by the adventures we had, the achievements we made, and the people we loved”. So when you think of Danny, “don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened”. He would want it that way.

Friends may call Saturday July 29, 2023 from 12:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm at the Chute Wiley Funeral Home 118 S. Jackson Street, New Lexington, Ohio 43764.

Burial will be in New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington, Ohio.
