Catherine L. Palmer of Corning passed away Monday, November 19, 2012,at the age of eighty-four. She was born February 14, 1928 in Whipston Ridge near Moxahala.
Catherine was a parishioner of Bethany United Methosist Church, a fifty-year member of the Carnation Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #167, and a member of the Corning Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #463. She worked for the United State Postal Service for thirty-three years, serving as Postmaster of the Corning Post Office for the final eight. In additiion to her postal service, Catherine also served as Attendance Officer for the Southern Local School District for twelve years.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Vicki) Palmer; grandchildren,D.J.(Missy) Palmer and Lynann(John) Bolyard II;
and great-grandchildren, Samantha,Katie,and Lily Palmer, and Andy Jeffers and Jeb Bolyard, all of Corning.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Palmer (November 30, 1984), her parents Floyd and Edna Roush Baker and 3 brothers, Walter, Raymond and Claude Baker.
Calling hour will be held Friday from 2-5 & 6-8 at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 159 Adams St., Corning,Ohio. The Order of Eastern Star will conduct a memorial services at 7:00 p.m.,as will Corning Fraternal Order of Eagles at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church with calling hours from 12:00 p.m. until time of services. Rev. John Kay will officiate and burial will follow in the Oakwood Millertown Cemetery.
