Passed away January 5, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 14, 1944 in Morgan County, the son of the late George and Florence Love Bankes. He was a member of the New Lexington Elk's 509 having served as Trustee for many years and PER in 1990, New Lexington Eagles 2070 also having served as a Trustee, a 32nd degree member of the Deavertown Masonic Lodge and a member of the Columbus Chapter of the Shriners.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Patty Pettet Bankes whom he married December 28, 1968. Children, Cheryl (John) Eltringham of Porterville and Lou Ann of the home. Grandchildren, Shane (Katie) Eltringham of Zanesville, Nicole Eltringham of Blacklick, Emily Eltringham of Malta and Nial (Heather Smith) Eltringham of Zanesvile. Great grandchildren, Logan, Nathan, Madison, Gavin, Kylan, Ethan and Sadie. Sisters, Dorthea (Ralph) Ross of Mt. Sterling
Barbara (Lewis) Hussell of West VA, and sister in law, Sarah Bankes of Athens and special friend Gail Wilson.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George and Bob Bankes and a sister, Golda Davisson.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00-8:00 pm Friday at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home 118 S Jackson St., New Lexington with Elk's conducting services at 7:00 pm and Eagles services at 7:30 pm.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm with viewing 1 hour prior to the services at the Community Holiness Church, Tile Plant Road, New Lexington with Pastor Dorthea Ross officiating.
