Amanda Shepard GRIGGS Obituary

Amanda Faye Shepard Griggs
October 2, 1978 – August 21, 2021

Amanda Griggs was a beautiful child of God.  She went home to the Lord in the early morning of August 21, 2021.
Amanda grew up in New Lexington and Junction City, Ohio.  She was a brilliant child and a 1997 graduate of New Lexington High School and Tri-County JVS.  An avid reader, Amanda dreamed of one day becoming an author.  She had the most magnificent blue eyes.  She loved music, especially James Taylor.

Amanda loved her family.  She adored her daughters, Drea Griggs and Nola Cotton, of New Lexington.  She loved Gary Cotton, whom she planned to marry, with all of her heart.  Amanda loved her parents, Cheryl King of Coshocton and Jeff King of New Lexington, and her grandmothers, Alberta Hartshorn , “Birdie” King of New Lexington.  She loved her sister, April King, and was completely smitten with April’s children, Mason, Jacob and Jonah Gano of Gnadenhutten, Ohio.  Amanda loved her many aunts, uncles, cousins and all of her friends.  Amanda loved everyone.  Amanda loved.

Amanda suffered greatly in life.  She endured more pain and loss than any human body should endure.  In her Earthly Journey, Amanda became active in the recovery community.  She found great joy in helping others find their way.

Today, Amanda feels no pain and walks without assistance.  Today, Amanda dances in Heaven.  Today, Amanda reunites with her son, Tyler Griggs, her husband, Chris Griggs, and her very special mother-in-law, Betty Griggs whom she called, “My Betty.”
Amanda leaves behind an extended family devastated by this tragic and unexpected loss.  She is greatly missed.  Her family finds new meaning in Amanda’s favorite James Taylor song, Fire and Rain. “But I always thought that I’d see you, baby, one more time again.”
