Corning, Ohio


Passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009 at her residence.

She was born November 8, 1917 in Corning.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard "Red" Baird.
Daughter of the Late Wence (WH) & Mina Raub.

She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church of Corning, lifetime member of Carnation Chapter 167 Eastern Star, Kappa Gamma Soroity, and the Retired Teachers Association.
Margaret earned her Bachelors Degree in Education in 1965 and her Masters in Education in August of 1967 from Ohio University.

She taught at the Clayton School until its closing and the New Lexington Middle School where she retired as Assisant Principal in 1990.

She is survived by her son,
Robert (Deborah) Baird of Xenia.
Grandchildren: Robert (Christy) Baird of Columbus.
Chad (Michelle) Baird of Dayton, Shane (Lorraine) Baird of Columbus, Jennifer (David) Sagers of Vandalia, Emily (Steve)Erisman of Xenia and Stephanie Swyers of Jamestown.
24 Great Grandchildren.
Sister; Ann (Leo) Altier, Corning and a brother Gary (Stella) Pyle of Polly's Island, South Carolina.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her grandchildren Eloy and Jennifer Baird, sisters; Francis Raub, Marcella Wood and Mildred Powell.

Calling hours will be held from 2-8 pm Monday at the Chute-Wiley Funeral Home, 118 S. Jackson St. New Lexington, Ohio with Eastern Star Services at 7:30 pm.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 11:00 am with the Rev. John Kay officiating. Burial will follow in Millertown Cemetery.
