Pamela Compston Obituary

Pamela Rosita Altier Compton, 76 of New Lexington passed away November 29,2023 at her home after a hard-fought battle with cancer. The sparkle in her eye, her raised eyebrow, quirky smile, quick wit, and the unwavering love for her family was there till the end. Cancer ravaged her body, but it could never capture her soul. Pam was born in Zanesville Ohio on October 30,1947, the last of nine children born to the late John F. Altier and Mary G. Flautt Altier of Corning.

Pam was a 1965 graduate of Saint Aloysius High School in New Lexington, Ohio. She was a homemaker when her daughters were young and later spent her time caring for the disabled through Perry County MRDD and the elderly at Fairview Assisted Living where she retired after 20+ years of service. She was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church, the New Lexington Elks, and New Lexington Eagles, and Am Vets and Thornville Moose.

Pam was an avid golfer. She enjoyed golfing with her grandson, nephews and nieces and especially enjoyed golfing with her girlfriends and drinking a little birdie juice. Pam also enjoyed bowling, gambling, and a good game of Euchre, a cold beer and loved watching and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Pam had the biggest heart and was always willing to help other people in need. She had a smile that could light up a room and her love of life will truly be missed by all.

Pam’s biggest joy and what she was the most proud of was her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, Maw, sister and Aunt Pam to her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

Pam is survived by her daughters, Mary Clarissa (Curt) Reynolds of Moxahala, Heidi (Ray) St. Clair of Logan, Danielle (Jerry) Rehart of  New Lexington and Jessica (Jim) Stanford of Talladega, Alabama; Grandchildren, Jacob (Samantha) Reynolds, Skylynn (Cody) Penfold, Jerry (Sam Butler) Rehart lll, Isabelle (Egan Hoffman), Katlynn Penfold, & Emma and Austin Stanford,  great granddaughters, Piper and Josie Reynolds, brother Bill (Susan) Altier, sister in laws Ann Altier, Wanda Altier, Sally Rambo, and Susan Altier. Special friend Bill Funk, her lifelong friends Mary Ann Tittel, Ellen Towner, Sandra Altier, Mary Ann Verfers Chui and a tribe of close friends that are too many to mention by name but have been blessing to Pam.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Katherine Reynolds, the father of her daughters Dale L. Compston, brothers, Leo, Louis, Donald, John and Paul Altier, Sister, Christine M. Altier, sister and brother-in-law Mary Ann and Tom Flowers, sisters in law, Evelyn Ann Altier.
